"Hey Mama" by Kanye West

Another song in the God Bless Mom category: Kanye West's "Hey Mama," shown here in the 2008 Grammy Awards live version. West wrote this song for his mother, Donda West, who for 24 years was a professor of English at Chicago State University. Here is an article from Jet magazine about Donda West's book Raising Kanye, as well as a link to the lyrics. It's incredibly sad that Donda died suddenly (after the song had been recorded), and obviously very painful for Kanye.

"Hey Mama" is one of those songs that's nice to have on in the car when driving the kids to school, and I like hearing it coming out of Jack's room now and then, especially as I think about him going off to college next year.
