Sentient beings exchange glances across the snow




We had another few inches of snow, the beautiful kind, bringing a kind of peaceful beauty to the back yard, especially.

At some point during the day five deer crossed back by the tree line, near the compost, as they do every day. I got my camera, and they stopped to look at me, as they always do. And then they moved on.

I love these exchanges, I once had a moment of communion with a dragonfly which was rotating its many-faceted eyes to take in what had gotten between it and the sun. Admittedn;y, I was sleep-deprived, but still...
